Dear Readers,

December 30, 2007 in Sovereign Grace Ministries

I originally posted this in a comment, but right now I feel very led to put it up at the top of this site:

Dear Readers,

This morning at church, we sang a song about “looking to Jesus.” I can’t quite remember the exact lyrics, but it contained lines that said something to the effect of, “When you’re facing a mountain you can’t climb, you can look to the maker of the mountains…when you’re faced with stormy seas, you can look to the one who calms the waves…when you’re feeling hurt, you can look to the Healer of your soul…”

It was not what anyone could proudly point to as a “theologically deep” song – not by any means – but singing it this morning really blessed me.

I came home and tried to write a post to put into words the hope I suddenly felt as I thought about each and every one of the people who have written their stories on this site. Somehow, the words just wouldn’t flow. It was such a simple thought, I didn’t know how to phrase it. Basically, it’s this:

Look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Jesus paid it all. And He’ll be faithful to carry us all through. When we’re feeling overwhelmed with the pain of church troubles, Jesus understands. He never got along with His church authorities, either. When we’re feeling hurt or even angry, Jesus is right there with us, ready to bind up the broken-hearted and heal every wound. Even if we’ve allowed bitterness to take root in our hearts, the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to wash that away!

My eyes are full of tears now…it’s getting harder to see what I’m typing…

Jesus sees. Jesus knows. Jesus paid. Jesus heals.

Grace and peace to you!
